The next session is online on 19th May 2026 at 7.30pm BST and will be lead by Louise Grieve RVN, VetLed Associate Trainer.

Why behaviour matters? An exploration of civility in practice.

In the complex veterinary environment, many factors affect performance, whether on an individual or team level. One such factor is how we behave and treat one another. Perceived incivility, or rudeness, has been shown to have a negative impact on staff wellbeing, team performance, and patient safety. In this session, we will explore why behaviour matters and the concept of incivility, as well as how raising a collective awareness of this can lead to a more open and compassionate workplace culture.

As a Senior Surgery Nurse, Learning Development Team Lead, and now Practice Manager at a busy charity clinic, Louise brings high levels of clinical knowledge and application of Human Factors at the “coalface”.

She knows that Human Factors influences our professional lives constantly, from how we lead our teams to how we advocate for patient safety and high clinical standards. Louise’s specific interests include civility in veterinary practice, the impact of strong organisational vision and values on workplace culture, and how to influence patient safety and team performance.
