VetLed Climate: Climate Science for Veterinary Teams

This half-day workshop offers a clear, evidence-based overview of climate science, tailored for veterinary professionals and delivered by people who understand your world. Using the globally recognised Climate Fresk methodology - experienced by more than two million people worldwide - small groups work together with 42 cards to build a collaborative collage, piecing together the drivers and mechanisms of climate change. It's a visual, hands-on process that engages everyone in the learning and creates an immersive, memorable experience, and a shared foundation for a more sustainable future for your practice.

A private session run within your team lets us tailor the discussion to your specific setting - small animal/first opinion, referral, equine or farm - and zoom into specific issues such as anaesthetic gases, drawing on our facilitators' experience within the sector.

What you'll cover

The causes and effects of climate change, and the core mechanisms of the underlying science, grounded in data from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. There's no prior knowledge required: you'll be guided through it, working in small groups, with a mix of learning, creativity and discussion.

Learning objectives - by the end, you'll be able to:

• Explain the core mechanisms driving climate change, grounded in established scientific consensus.

• Describe the interconnected nature of climate causes and impacts, mapped through the 42-card Climate Fresk collage you build together.

• Relate these principles to the realities of veterinary practice and your own organisation's context.

• Reflect openly on any tension between your commitment to animal care and concern for environmental impact, in a safe, non-judgmental space.

• Identify practical, achievable actions to reduce environmental impact, as a team and as a profession.
