Introduction to Human Factors for Veterinary Graduates
Eye-opening training covering key non-technical skills and Human Factors principles for veterinary

Overview:
This one-day workshop is designed for recent veterinary graduates. We will introduce the field of Human Factors and how it relates to everyday veterinary practice. We use stories and case discussions from clinical scenarios and other sectors such as commercial aviation to help define this area of work, and demonstrate its significance for optimising patient care.
Delegates will learn key non-technical skills including decision making under pressure, situational awareness and aspects of communication such as appropriately assertive communication and raising patient concerns.
This is an interactive session with a mixture of storytelling, breakout discussions and sharing of evidence and relevant research. The main objective is to provide the underlying knowledge and skills that will be practised at our immersive graduate simulations workshop that we highly recommend as a follow-up to this course.

“We worked with VetLed for an intensive, and brilliant, year. They created a bespoke programme for our practice after chatting through where we were and where we wanted to be. To say it was helpful is a massive understatement! They know what they are talking about and the observation days they conducted gave us massive insight into areas we had not seen we could improve on. I can't recommend their help and support enough!”

FAQs
Whilst many people prefer the experience of exploring this topic in-person, we can tailor the delivery for an online experience.
Whilst there are no prerequisites for this workshop, we highly recommend that it is followed by our immersive ‘ECC Simulation Day for Veterinary Graduates’. These sessions have been designed to be delivered together to ensure the theoretical concepts are brought to life and will be effectively applied in a practice setting.
This is one of our offerings that has been tailored specifically for recent veterinary surgeon graduates and we recommend not to combine this training with other members of a practice team. We do offer similar sessions that are ideal for whole practice teams, such as our one-day ‘Veterinary Human Factors Fundamentals’ workshop.
