During these 5-week interactive online programme, you will learn why personal resilience is so important and what factors support it. You will learn to recognise the signs of stress in yourself and others and develop a practical toolkit to help avoid burnout.
Understand how to develop confidence by identifying unhelpful thinking patterns and learning strategies for problem solving and dealing with mistakes.
Access an online discussion board allowing peer support and discussion about the most effective resilience strategies.
Take away a practical toolkit of resilience resources that can be applied in the months and years ahead.
How does it work?
- 5x weekly 1-hour sessions with a mix of live and recorded content. During the course you will have the opportunity for group participation and partake in a delegate discussion forum.
- Recordings of live sessions are available for delegate catch-up
- Downloadable resilience tools to try between sessions
Who are the course leaders?
Louise is an equine vet, career coach, resilience practitioner and mum to two boys.
She is passionate about supporting vets and nurses to take proactive steps to thrive in our industry through coaching and training.
Louise graduated from Glasgow University in 2001 and has 20 years’ experience of first opinion and referral equine practice in addition to locum work. She holds a certificate in Equine Orthopaedic Surgery. Louise has a Diploma in Personal Performance Coaching and is a Resilience Practitioner. As an experienced coach and mentor, Louise has helped vets, nurses, interns and students to gain career clarity and progress towards their goals. She specialises in career development, building confidence and resilience, tackling overwhelm and finding the right work-life balance.
Louise is a positive and empathetic coach with a wealth of lived experience. She is an accredited DISC trainer and can provide DISC personality profiling to develop awareness of preferred communication and behavioural styles.
Louise loves all things Yorkshire, the outdoors and tea and can often be found on the moors training for triathlon with her pack of working cockers.
Helen is a veterinary nurse and Senior Trainer and Content Development Lead at VetLed. Having worked in general practice, referral hospitals and nursing education over the past 21 years, she has extensive professional experience and understanding from a wide range of settings.
Helen is passionate about developing the veterinary professions understanding of Human Factors as a powerful aid in improving patient safety, enhancing performance, and supporting the wellbeing of the veterinary team. She is a RCVS Knowledge Champion for her role in the sustained training and use of a surgical safety checklist within the small animal theatre at the former Animal Health Trust.
In 2021, Helen completed an MSc in Patient Safety and Clinical Human Factors at the University of Edinburgh. The programme supports healthcare professionals in using evidence-based tools and techniques to improve the reliability and safety of healthcare systems.
For her dissertation project Helen researched situational awareness in the veterinary operating theatre and has a special interest in non-technical skills. In her role at VetLed she enjoys applying this knowledge to develop and deliver professionally relevant training for all members of the veterinary team.
